I am tired, so this may be a bit negative but go with it. It will turn positive somehow.
topic: nerds separated vs nerds on a rope
what is the substance that sticks us all together here in this MALT classroom?
(and it's not sucrose, sugar or corn syrup)
To call the first day "challenging" is candy-coating it. Don't get me wrong, the class ROX (my puns toward the topic are intended). I will admit that the measures taken to get into the program, to get to the class today, were extreme and extremely difficult. I had to want it to get it and I still do. From what I hear, others had to push hard also. It's hard work for some HARD FUN.
My 'comrades' and I are now bonded -- bonded by mutual frustration, confusion and sleep deprivation as well as desperation and a fear of facing 'all this' alone. I would surmise that we are bonded by simple human necessity since we were all made for community as beings created in the Image of God.
Through intense personal interaction over many hours, our group has already become close and I see hints of inspiration, collaboration and innovation.
It's boot camp.
btw: I feel as if I just wrote something Steve McQueen would have written as Capt. Hilts ("the cooler king") in The Great Escape. *L*
